La guía tiene 25 temas desarrollados y 10 tips que se han sugerido. El autor es un peridista que ha desarrollado su carrera en Londres como un reportero y editor de noticias con The Times, Foreign News Editor y The Observer y ha sido consultor en guías para periodistas en muchos países de europa central y asia.

Los 10 tips para una mejor búsqueda en Internet que este editor recomienda son:

1. Use more words in your search – try six or eight
2. Use an exact phrase (when it is likely to be in the pages you seek)
3. Use quotation marks around phrases and full names
4. Choose unusual search words
5. Choose nouns and objects, in preference to verbs, or other types of word
6. Put the most important term first among the search words
7. Check your spelling (it's the biggest problem among searchers)
8. Turn off images in your web browser, so pages load faster
9. Do not believe all you read on the net – check anything doubtful
10. You cannot find everything on the net – be ready to look elsewhere
