Los Pros y Contras de la Tableta

To have a secure and productive environment at the workplace major enterprises restrict what employees can do with company computers during the day, and most of them lock down deployed systems. Tablets can be beneficial in this scenario as they are easier to lock down through which companies can restrict the things employees can do with them, especially online.

Moreover, Tablets offer the option of customized restriction lock down feature through which employees will be confined to their work online and nothing more.

Affordable

The IT folks are quite excited about the reduced cost per unit of tablet considering the rate of tablets replacing laptops. One big advantage the companies can have is that volume purchases of tablets are expected to bring down the cost per unit far below that of conventional devices.

Most of the IT staff report that one tablet feature that excites them the most is that there are no moving parts onboard. Tablets are customized one piece device that are reasonably durable compared to the current devices used today. Moreover, these compact devices have no moving hard drives, no hinges or latches that can be broken when used.

Kendrick says that most of the IT professional express their disconcern over mechanical parts of products, be it laptop or desktop. They say that if there is a mechanical part attached that must be used daily, a fair number of the devices will fail in the field. Whether it is the laptop screen hinge that stops opening or closing properly, or the hard drive that refuses to spin anymore, some percentage of them certainly fail.

One Key feature that all computers have except the tablets is the keyboard. For those who use keyboard for their regular tasks and input a lot of data such as reports, this could be a glitch, however many employees don’t really need a physical keyboard.

Work that requires very little amount of input can be done just as easily using onscreen keyboards of the tablet. While most employees are familiar with the real keyboard, they prefer that, however with a little practice the virtual keyboard is just as good for the amount of input most employees do regularly.

The major issues that companies face with tablets is the physical security of tablets, enterprises these days are more concerned about security of the computers deployed in organizations. In such case tablets by far pose a bigger threat than current devices when it comes to physical security. Desktop in the workplace are fairly safe due to the difficulty to steal them, but tablets in case of tablets its totally different.

Since tablets are much easier to steal than laptops, securing them in the workplace and keeping them safe outside the workplace could be one big issue enterprises need to deal.

Its quite natural, that when something is used on regular basis replacing it with something totally is usually unacceptable. Same is the case with employees, replacing the desktop/laptop with a tablet will be a big one. Employees often face a challenge when they are encountered with a keyboard-less device and hence they resist it for which companies will have to find a way to deal with that.

Conversion Cost of propriety software:

Most of the companies today to keep their operations running efficiently and smoothly use proprietary software and most of these are windows based. Now when it comes to deployment of tablets in huge numbers, switching lots of employees to mobile platforms and converting these proprietary systems could cost a fortune.
