Building a community

Very interesting the construction of a community to discuss the use of blog. I knew another way to make the invitations in a servant different; but the form to make the list of the guests in this case is original.

to blog = to write messages and post them on line
a blogger = a person who blogs
blogosphere = the collective world of blogs, the blooging community
blogroll = a list of links to blogs read and visited regularly

What is a Blog?

A personal journal or diary to communicate and to interchange ideas. In Spanish BITACORA (binnacle or nau) is called which remembers the diary of the navigators.

Un diario personal para comunicar e intercambiar ideas. En español se llama BITACORA lo cual recuerda los diarios de los navegantes.

What does it look like?

Blog looks like to Web page and a portal, but with the differences that the Bog allows the dialogue where as the Web page is a tool only for the monologue. The portal is more similar but it does not allow to place in the multimedia, but to only comment.

El blog se parece a una hoja web y a un portal, pero con las diferencias que el Bog permite el diálogo mientras que la Hoja Web es una herramienta sólo para el monólogo. El portal es más parecido pero no permite colocar en el multimedia, sino sólo comentar.

Common features of a blog

Besides to write chronological, to place connections, to file the writing, the use of templates and skins ( formats), with blog it is possible to inform (that is to use tool RSS to make know it ; XML) and to even post way e-mail.

Además de escribir cronológicamente, de colocar enlaces , de archivar lo escrito, del uso de templates y skins (de plantillas y de formatos), con el blog se puede sindicalizar (o sea utilizar la herramienta RSS para hacerlo conocer; XML) e incluso enviar vía e-mail lo que se quiere escribir.

What mekes blogs atractive?

Blog is easy to do in few steps only with the mouse of the computer without having to be a professional programmer. Blog is a tool that allows the dialogue and is flexible, in addition to its ease of use, the users not only publish its contents but that receive one immediate refeeding (feedback). And its cost is low and often it is obtained without cost (free) although with some limitations for its use (for example, 1 MB to store and less features with the paid Blog).

El blog es fácil de hacer en pocos pasos sólo con el ratón de la computadora sin tener que ser un programador profesional. El blog es una herramienta que permite el diálogo y es flexible, además de su facilidad de uso, los usuarios no sólo publican sus contenidos sino que reciben una inmediata realimentación (feedback). Y su costo es bajo y muchas veces se obtiene sin costo (free) aunque con algunas limitaciones para su uso (por ejemplo, 1 MB para almacenar y con menos features que el Blog pagado).

Why are blogs pedagogical tools?

The Blog gives an opportunity to the student to communicate. The Blog allows that an authentic and real hearing is had that comes from the commentaries. It can be a cooperative and interdisciplinary tool. The Blog produces alphabetical digital and enthusiasm person.

El Blog le da una oportunidad al estudiante de comunicar. El Blog permite que se tenga una auténtica y real audiencia que proviene de los comentarios. Puede ser una herramienta cooperativa y interdisciplinaria. El Blog produce alfabetismo digital y con entusiasmo.

Why use blogs in E SL / E F L?

The use of blog in the education and special language education ( like second language), creates an opportunity to write and to read in interactive form, promoting the investigation and the autonomy of the users, it facilitates the interchange of expressions in the language and its content, and is a tool that motivates the user. Also it can be a bilingual tool.

El uso del blog en la enseñanza del idioma como segunda lengua, crea una oportunidad para escribir y leer en forma interactiva, promoviendo la investigación y la autonomía de los usuarios, facilita el intercambio de expresiones en el idioma y su contenido, y es una herramienta que motiva al usuario. Igualmente puede ser una herramienta bilingüe.

Prelude (Weblogging Course)

This blog is in construction for course WEBLOGGING, still lack to put the furniture and the scenery.

Very interesting the intensive course of 6 weeks on the use of Blog and Wiki in the educational activity of the language like second language.

More than 159 participants than they are had I divide in work groups and an intense activity in a mail list in Yahoo Groups and three enthusiastic professors: Aaron Campbell, Barbara Dieu , Graham Stanley.

The first week a document on the definitions of blog and Wiki that appear in several rescued links of Internet. Also on four blogs the participants can use it with other activities like making Chat, publishing in a Wiki the personal data and the Blog elaborated specially for the course. This Blog in Blogger is one of the assigned tasks.
